ABX Expands Ruggedized Production Capabilities
July 6th, 2012
ABX Engineering, Inc. is a 26-year-old ISO 9001-2008 and 13485 approved contract electronics manufacturer which targets prototype NPI, medium to large sized projects, providing coast to coast coverage with offices in San Francisco, San Diego and Charlotte, NC. ABX has added additional equipment to expand ruggedized production capabilities.
Ruggedized EMS, is for Customers who require their electronic assemblies to function in a harsh, "unfriendly", or rugged environments, ABX Engineering offers several reliability enhancing manufacturing processes. Conformal Coating & Potting, Silicone, Polyurethane and Parylene is available to be utilized on PCBA's subject to harsh environments. Component layout and construction reliability can be enhanced with silicon and special glues for components vulnerable to damage by mechanical shock and vibration.
To increase capacity ABX has added a high capacity conformal coating line based on the PVA model PVA2000 conformal coating machine. In addition to increasing capacity, the equipment provides tighter controls in the application of protective coating further increasing the quality of the PCBA production. For product requiring complete potting, ABX has added a Graco PR70 dispensing system.
In addition to supporting customers with DFM (design for manufacturing) and DFT (design for test) consultation ABX can provide DFR (design for reliability) consultation as related to reliability in design and production process specifications.
John Turner, Sales Program Manager for ABX stated, "ABX has been able to offer our clients services and technology beyond simple PCBA board and electro-mechanical assembly. Many of the customers we serve, sell products that go into harsh environments of ocean, research, security, transportation (automotive, trucking), renewable energy, aviation, sporting and other operating environments subject to extreme environmental conditions. Our expertise in the application of protective coatings, potting and other process that can help the clients product be more reliable and are one more way we have been able to differentiate ABX from our competitors. ABX has built our success on our commitment to continual improvement in our business processes for the production of quality products for our clients. Our suite of reliability enhancement offerings is one more example of this.
For our customers, often the simple addition of a relatively inexpensive conformal coating in the manufacturing process can help their product gain one more level of longer term reliability, which could save them money in less future service return or field failure problems. Our manufacturing program and processes like the availability of protective coatings or potting are one more way that our services provide value (long term cost savings) to the client beyond simple board assembly."
ABX is a leading CM in producing higher technology products, from circuit boards to complete turn key systems, manufacturing for industries including medical, aviation, broadcast, commercial, industrial, research and other customers.
