About ABX

ABX provides "Value Add" higher level assembly, testing and other post assembly services increasing value for clients

July 3rd, 2014

ABX Engineering, Inc. is a 28-year-old ISO 9001-2008 and ISO 13485-2003 approved contract electronics manufacturer which targets NPI, medium to large sized projects, providing coast to coast coverage with offices in San Francisco and San Diego. ABX provides "Value Add" higher level assembly, testing and other post assembly services increasing value for clients. In addition to PCBA, cable and basic electromechanical production ABX can provide clients with higher levels of assembly, complete testing, packaging, customer shipment and Repair Depot.

Testing is key to getting the most value from a contract manufacturing engagement. Testing allows ABX to provide the customer with a product or subassembly that will be 100% functional when received by the client. The result, the client does not have to spend additional time troubleshooting defective components, possible workmanship defects or infant mortality of components which often is not found until the device is powered up.

ABX offers clients various testing options from in-circuit test, through complete functional test utilizing procedures specified by the client. When problems are found in test, defects can be resolved and corrected before the product is shipped to the customer.

Value add can also include higher levels of assembly, where for example PCBA's are built, tested and then integrated into systems, enclosures, subassemblies, up to the final product and then tested prior to shipment. This strategy helps the client by only having inventory that is 100% functional product or functional tested subassemblies, helping eliminate the customers "dog pile" often found in the warehouse of parts, PCBA's, subassemblies, etc., that were defective and simply set aside because of limited time and other priorities.

ABX has test and industrial engineers on staff to work with clients to implement testing and higher levels of assembly, programs to provide the best value in the production supply chain.

A common misconception about box build/electromechanical production related to contract manufacturing is that higher volumes are required to make this cost effective. ABX utilizes procedures and processes that allow the factory to handle both low volume and higher volume builds. ABX has a separate building dedicated to electromechanical assembly and higher level testing. If confidentiality is a concern, ABX can provide a sequestered production line for the client that is secured from the rest of the production activities. ABX is a leading CM in producing higher technology products, from circuit boards to complete turn key systems, manufacturing for industries including medical, aviation, broadcast, commercial, industrial, research and other customers.
