ABX Engineering Celebrates 30 Years in Business

ABX's history began in 1980 when the company’s’ founders started their first business in a small office providing materials management and parts brokering. The customer base steadily grew and in 1985 moving to Paul Leininger’s garage, which doubled as a warehouse, ABX Engineering was born, serving clients in the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

As the company grew, the focus evolved from just providing materials management to providing production services. A few years later the company realized the value in providing full service turn-key contract manufacturing and began to purchase the equipment to provide printed circuit board assembly, cables and other electronic assembly operations. The company moved into bigger buildings, continued to grow and assemble state of the art EMS production facilities, highlighted by the move into a new 40,000 square foot plus building for PCBA in late 2013. Expansion continues with the remodeling of a second building that will be dedicated to electromechanical assembly.

Over the past three decades ABX has enjoyed considerable success, due in no small part to the hard work and innovation of over 100 loyal employees. The considerable contributions by our employees have been instrumental in the successful growth of ABX's customer base from humble beginnings in the Bay Area to a growing nationwide customer base.

ABX Senior Vice President Brian Helm stated “In the past 30 years we have had the opportunity to work with so many diverse customers and products. From very sophisticated electronics used in avionics, medical and military applications, to consumer products. It’s been interesting to work with so many products, but of more significance, this depth of production experience allows ABX to tackle new projects and complex builds with the experience in most cases of having done similar type builds in the past. Looking forward we are continuing to expand our test capabilities, ruggedized production offerings and expanding our electromechanical production facility with a renovated building dedicated to box build. We look forward to continuing to grow the ABX customer base and to, wherever we can, play an important part in helping our customers grow their business, knowing we have them covered for their production needs."
